🚤⚡ Play a key role in the electrical innovation of our revolutionary hydrofoil boats.

Full-time · Edorado Head Office

Your new challenge

At Edorado B.V., we develop electric hydrofoil boats and advanced control systems with a clear mission: to create a sustainable and efficient future for the maritime industry. Until recently, we followed a custom hardware approach—logical during the development phase but leading to complexities such as multiple CPUs and varying protocols. Now, we have transitioned to a PLC-based architecture to streamline and future-proof our systems.

Our electrical systems need further optimization to ensure easier management, reduced complexity, and improved compatibility. This involves evaluating and refining components, standardizing protocols, and collaborating closely with our Lead Control Systems Developer and Flight Control Engineer to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and control systems. You will also receive technical guidance and support from our experienced Electronics & Software Architect, who sets the overarching direction and ensures alignment between disciplines. Together, you will create a system that is not only robust and scalable but also ready for future expansion and production.

Beyond system optimization, you will also take the lead in developing our own integrated powertrain. While components such as axial flux motors, inverters, and battery management systems are sourced externally, your role is to seamlessly integrate them into a high-performance, fully functional system. This also includes tackling EMC challenges, minimizing electromagnetic interference, and ensuring compliance with future certification requirements. Lastly, you’ll help make our technology broadly adaptable so that boatbuilders can easily integrate our systems into their own designs.

What will you do?

  • Optimize and standardize existing electrical systems.

  • Evaluate and select alternative components to improve performance and compatibility.

  • Develop an integrated powertrain by designing and assembling a scalable, robust propulsion system with motors, inverters, and battery management systems. You’ll ensure EMC compatibility, efficient cable routing, proper grounding, and minimized signal interference while also addressing thermal management and reliability.

  • Collaborate with the Lead Control Systems Developer to bridge hardware and software solutions.

  • Ensure clear and structured documentation of systems and processes.

  • Support custom solutions for boatbuilders who adopt our technology.

What are we looking for?

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

  • At least five years of experience in electrical system design, with a focus on power electronics and complex systems.

  • Experience with CAN communication and familiarity with stepper and servo motors is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency in Eplan or similar design tools.

  • Knowledge of high-voltage safety standards and regulations (EMC, NEN, CE).

  • A structured and proactive work style, with strong documentation and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with other disciplines, such as software development and system architecture.

  • Passion for innovative technology and sustainability.

  • Professional communication skills in English.
